Mid Island Co-op is different than your average gas station, because we’re 100% community owned. And you don’t have to be a member to shop Co-op. If you decide to join, there’s a one time fee of $10, and you can get a rebate every year on what you spend.

Awards & Bursaries

Mid Island Co-op awards ten (10) bursaries each year to local students, nine through the secondary schools (see your school for an application), two awarded by the Member Relations Committee and one awarded through the Member Relations Subcommittee; Food and Sustainability.

The Member Relations Committee awards two (2) $1,000 bursaries each year. This award is given to a Co-op member or an immediate member of their family who is attending post-secondary education or training. Applications are considered on the basis of need and overall merit.

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JULY 31, 2009 – Food Sustainability Subcomittee scholarship

The Food Sustainability Subcommittee awards one (1) $1,000 scholarship. This award is given to a Co-op member or immediate member of their family who is attending post-secondary education or training. It is aimed at a student who has made good academic progress in studies or research pursing a course leading to a career in active farming or market gardening in British Columbia. Applications are considered on the basis of need, overall merit and how well the purposes of the scholarship are addressed.

Mid Island Co-op believes the best way to build a co-operative future is to advance life skills, independence, responsibility and community building in our young leaders. Each year, Co-op sponsors four young people for the BCCA “YES – Youth Excellence Society!”, previously known as Camp Rainbow.
