Co-op membership means business
Membership in the Co-op isn’t about joining a club nor is it a marketing scheme. Members in the Co-op own the business, elect their Directors, run for the Board of Directors, propose and decide upon motions and carry out other business as necessary.
Members get excess earnings
Profits from sales to members are returned to members – making Co-op membership very valuable. For example, members in the Co-op saw 4% on gas purchases, 3.5% on home heating fuel and 1% on grocery purchases returned to them last year in the form of equity allocations. Members hold all of the equity in the Co-op.
Co-ops: self-help for a better tomorrow
Membership in a Co-operative means being part of a self-help movement that also works for social change. The more successful the Co-op, the more returns to members and to their community.
It pays to join the Co-op
You don’t have to be a member to buy your gas or shop at the Co-op – but it pays to join. And it is very important that members take an active part in the running of their Co-op. It’s success is directly related to the level of involvement and support provided by its member/owners.
